A student of Uganda Christian University (UCU) Kabale campus drowned in Lake Bunyonyi during a swim about with pals.

This happened last evening.
A first year student, Elizabeth Twebaze at Uganda Christian University (UCU) Bishop Barham campus in Kabale District drowned yesterday in the deepest Lake Bunyonyi, the deepest lake in Uganda, and third deepest in the world.

Police ruled out suicide as had earlier been suggested.

“There was nothing like suicide. They went to wash clothes, thereafter went swimming. A senior fellow called her to reach the middle of the deep-end where she lost control of herself and ended up drowning,” it was revealed.

Late Twebaze was pursuing a Bachelors degree in Social Work and Social Administration at the Kabale-based institution.

Family and friends have described the late as a humble and cheerful person.

“May the good lord receive you, forgive, you and give you all the peace and happiness that you didn’t find in this world” a one Emma Namanya eulogized the deceased.
