Uganda has entered a new semi lockdown with schools, public gatherings, churches closed for 42 days.
Inter district travel is also prohibited starting on 10th June.
Here are the main take home points….
-Schools close with immediate effect
-Communal prayers in mosques, Christmas churches and open spaces are suspended
-Travel from Category A (India) remains suspended. Only Ugandans returning home to be allowed
-Teachers must be vaccinated before returning to schools after 42 days
-Supermarkets, shopping malls to continue operations under strict SoPs observation.
If there’s no adherence after one week, they will be closed. They must close by 7pm.
-Social gatherings like wedding, burial etc will only allow 20 people with strict SoPs
-House parties are strictly banned
-Weekly and monthly markets like cattle markets suspended
-Public inter district transport system suspended from 10th of June
-All inter district travel banned apart from cargo trucks, tourist and essential vehicles
-Cargo trucks are allowed only two people
-Bars remain closed, cinema, theatres etc are closed again
-Fans, supporters banned from stadia
-Offices have to revert to 30% staff for 42 days. 70% to work from home
-Companies must install SoPs compliance officers
-Private cars must only carry not more than three people. These include the drivers.
-Curfew remains at 21:00 hours (9pm)
-Boda bodas to carry only one passenger. Failure to adhere within a week will lead to total closure
-Introduction of fines instead of arrests.
-Museveni has appointed Maj Gen Rusoke to lead the National Covid-19 monitoring team.
He will work hand in hand with Dr. Musenero.
