Koboko Municipality Member of Parliament Evelyn Anite has asked government to make an immediate decision on the reopening of schools.
While picking nomination forms as she gears up to retain her parliamentary seat, the Investment Minister revealed that over 150 young girls in Koboko have been impregnated during the nationwide lockdown.
She said as they wait on government’s decision, as aleader she intends to hold meetings involving all leaders to see how the matter can be resolved.
During President Museveni’s nation address earlier in the week, the head of state said the decision on schools would be made before September but the option of the dead year seems to be in sight. However if schools are to be opened it would only be for candidates.
Reopening of schools has continuously been postponed due to fear of the spread of the deadly virus since majority schools cannot afford to meet the required Standard Operating Procedures.
