Police last night arrested 32 suspects for violating Presidential directives and Ministry of Health guidelines of social distancing and curfew.
The 32 suspects were arrested while celebrating London outfit Arsenal FC win over Champions Liverpool FC in last night’s Premier league match. The suspects were arrested in Katanga, Wandegeya, Kampala.
They will be charged with disobedience of lawful orders and doing acts likely to spread the infectious disease, Covid-19. They are detained at Wandegeya Police Station.
This comes following the impounding of over 200 motorcycles earlier this week.
Police carried out an operation in which officers
Ministry of Health issued regulations that riders aren’t supposed to carry passengers since it could lead to spread of the Coronavirus due to lack of social distance.
Several riders and passengers were arrested and detained at various police stations in Kampala Metropolitan Police area.
The suspects will be charged with disobedience of lawful orders and doing acts likely to spread infectious disease which is coronavirus.
This will serve as a warning to people who continue to defy the regulations o motorcycles.
