Kampala Capital City Traders’ Association (KACITA) has issued a statement calling upon all traders operating their businesses in arcades to open their shops tomorrow Tuesday, July 14th, 2020.
According to Secretary-General KACITA, Musoke Thaddeus, all traders are expected to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
This statement comes as a defiance to government’s continued lockdown of most city arcades.
This comes just days after Senior Presidential Press Secretary, Mr. Don Wanyama suggested
While appearing on NBS TV last week, Wanyama said government was looking at ways of continued partial easing of the lockdown but insisted there was still a long way to go.
He confirmed an assessment has been carried out on how to reopen arcades. He did not confirm when they would be allowed to open.
“For the arcades, there has been an assessment, and KCCA will make recommendations to the cabinet to forge a way forward. Even if we are to reopen, we can’t do it at once. We shall get back to true normal when a cure or a vaccine is found,” Wanyama said.
