The core objective of Rotary Club is to bring together a global network of volunteer leaders who dedicate their time and talent to tackle the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges.
World over, Rotary connects over 1.2 million members from more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Their work impacts lives at both local and international levels.
Uganda and Tanzania are under the same rotary group termed as a district. It is Rotary District 9211.
Under this district, there are different clubs. One of these is The Rotary Club of Bweyogerere Namboole.
On Saturday 4 July, the Club held a handover and installation event that had members wine, dine and make merry but in respect and practice of Ministry of Health’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and guidelines in regard to the Coronavirus.
The event also doubled as the first official visit of the District Governor to the Bweyogerere Namboole Rotary Club.
The big and exciting event had respected businessman and coffee guru, Mr. Hannington Karuhanga as the guest of honor.
Karuhanga commended Bweyogerere Namboole Rotary Club for it’s humanitarian work and regretted why it has taken him long to join the philanthropic club.
He contributed Shs100 million towards the Bweyogerere Namboole signature project, The Rotary Jubilewo Centre of Excellence that is under construction in Kiira.
He also donated 12(twelve) incalf heifers to the club.
Once completed the Centre of Excellence will skill youths that finish or fall out of school and find challenges in finding employment.

The foundation on the four storeyed centre is already completed with construction work ongoing. The centre will as well have a multipurpose hall to serve as a meeting point.
The Saturday event kicked off at 1pm with the District Governor meeting the club leaders for an hour before he inspected the Jubilewo Centre of Excellence in Kiira.
After the inspection, members converged at aspiring Kiira Division mayor, Mr. Mamerto Mugerwa’s plush home for installation and dinner.
The District Governor of D9211 Rtn.Rosetti Nabbumba Nayenga was joined by PDG/Deputy Katikiro of Buganda Kingdom Owek.Robert Nsibirwa, PDG Kenneth Mugisha, DGE Magezi Ndamira, DGN Peace Taremwa , RDC – Kira Municipality and so many other Rotary District and local government officials.
This was indeed a very colourful purpose driven event of its kind!
Altogether, Shs107 million in cash and pledges was realized. This is a first.
Over the years, Bweyogerere Namboole Rotary Club has supportted the community in all rotary service avenues, cleaning towns, supporting health centres, schools and protecting and harnessing the environment.
