Seasoned Sports journalist turned preacher Mr. Joseph Kabuleta has declared intent to run for the presidency in the upcoming elections.
Mr. Kabuleta announced his bid in a press gathering today at Serena Hotel, Kampala.
“I’m Uganda’s next president,” Kabs, as he is popularly known, roared.
He also added he will be standing on the ticket of Financial Liberation to make sure Ugandans can partake on what rightfully belongs to them.
A renowned government critic, Kabuleta joins other opposition figures like novice Bobi Wine, Charles Rwomushana in the interesting race for the country’s executive job.
In 2019, he authored several stinging criticisms against the government and the firstfamily, and was arrested mafia-style from Lugogo as he prepared for his weekly Watchman Fellowship held at UMA Upper Gardens.
Witnesses said Kabuleta was enjoying tea with friends at Drew & Jacs Patisserie in Lugogo when plain clothed security agents picked him at around 5pm and bundled him into a waiting Toyota Wish, reg no. UBB 459D.
Police in a statement confirmed having Kabuleta in their custody. According to police, Kabuleta severally referred to President Yoweri Museveni as a gambler, thief and liar in his Facebook postings.
In recent months, Kabuleta has written biting weekly dossiers on social media criticising government’s failure to tackle sectarianism, corruption and nepotism, among others. He has also particularly attacked the privileged first family for their alleged detachment from the rest of suffering Ugandans.
