The Kasambya County Member of Parliament (MP) Mbwatekamwa Gaffa was released on police bond after spending five hours in custody at the Bushenyi central police station.
His arrest came shortly after he had donated an ambulance to Kakanju health center III in Kakanju sub county on Sunday.
Bushenyi District Police Commander Joel Komakech confirmed that Mbwatekamwa had been arrestedand charged and later released on bond.
“He was indeed arrested and we have released him on police bond,” said Komakech. He said that Mbwatekamwa was not arrested from the venue where he donated his ambulance but from a different location.
The MP dismissed allegations that he was arrested from a different location saying he only tried to walk away from the venue when they stopped him.
He is a candidate who has expressed interest to unseat the Igara West Member of Parliament and Minister Raphael Magyezi.
