Management of NBS TV, Sk Mbuga’s STV and BBS Telefayina are ‘closely monitoring’ Faridah Nakazibwe’s delicate situation at NTV Uganda.
For the past days, there have been suggestions that the celebrated news anchor could be forced out of the Serena Conference Centre based television station following her rather disturbing Twitter comments about Uganda Parliament speaker, Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga.
Reports indicate that Nation Media and NTV Uganda are considering terminating news anchor Faridah Nakazibwe’s contract over what was termed as ‘unbecoming behavior.’
Nakazibwe has been underfire from family, friends, the public and workmates following her tweet in which she compared Speaker of Uganda Parliament Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga to a cheap used Condom.
While she publicly apologised to Speaker Kadaga for attacking her, over the Shs10 billion COVID-19 money allocation to legislators, the damage had already been done.
“The language I used in my last retweet to you was offensive and uncalled for. I apologise. While I still disagree with the decision by parliament, I should beable to do so without being offensive,” Nakazibwe’s apology read on twitter.
However, this is viewed as not enough and some decision makers at Nation Media Uganda, NTV’s parent company wants her out.
“That was really harsh, some bosses want her out. It’s just that simple. The company has an image to protect. A single employee, however popular they are, must not jeopardize the brand.
It’s taken so many years of hard work to grow NTV, no one will jeopardize that,” a source quotes a WhatsApp message from a big shot at Nation Media.
And now BBS and NBS TVs are ready to pounce should she be shown the exit.
It’s no secret BBS television has always wanted Faridah. In fact back in the day, the station management- headed by Buganda Kingdom Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga- tried to recruit her and Frank Walusimbi.
However the two did not move.
NBS TV’s interest in star name signings- The Galacticos- is no secret.
“Yes, Faridah interests (Kin) Kariisa and the entire NBS management. Its no secret and they are monitoring her situation at NTV,” an insider told us.
