Retired UPDF Lt. Gen. Henry Tumukunde has been arrested today Thursday, he has revealed.

Tumukunde announced on social media.
“Comrades, I have been surrounded by army officers at my private office in Kololo,” he wrote.

According to sources, Tumukunde was surrounded by military and later taken to Kibuli where he is expected to record a statement.

He will be charged with offensive communication following his statements on Rwanda, a

source adds.


The retired military officer announced his Presidential bid a few weeks ago in the coming election slated for next year.

The controversial former intelligence chief who has held various government positions in security wrote to election regulator Electoral Commission seeking clearance for his consultations program.

It’s not clear what led to his arrest but we have learnt that his offices have been surrounded.
