LIVE WIRE, a gossip segment on Spark Television is the most watched entertainment/lifestyle program on Ugandan television, a new survey shows.
NBS Television’s After 5- that features the ‘fantastic 4’ of Mc Kats, Douglas Lwanga, Dj Mercy and Dj Roja- is in second position.
The survey was conducted at the end of September 2019, by Major Media, a research company.
The research covers results collected in Kampala as of 21st September 2019.
In third position is NBS Uncut, a program that rivals Spark TV’s flourishing Live Wire.
Both programs just about run at the same time daily.
The top 5 programs indicate that it is a two horse race in programs between NTV and NBS. Spark TV is a sister station to the former.

Urban TV’s Scoop on Scoop- another gossip program- breaks the NTV/Spark TV/NBS TV dominance.
Bukedde TV’s Emikolo ne Embaga is also up there just ahead of NBS TV’s Friday musical show, Katch Up.
Lunch Hour, another NBS TV music program follows.
Others are; T Nation on NTV, Spark TV’s Cheza.com, BBS TV’s Kiri Kitya, Twezimbe (Spark TV), Akayisanyo, Ekyenkya, Ffe Tuliko, Lunch Time Request, Muziki ku Luguddo, Oluyimba Lwo, Omuntu W’abantu among others.
The survey was conducted administered questionnaires to 5000 people from each of the five divisions of Kampala.
The sampling was stratified meaning that the area in which the research was conducted was subdivided into an equal number of respondents.
The survey interviewed 70% of respondents below the age of thirty and 30% of the respondents above the age of 30, in line with Uganda’s demographic/population structure.
50% of the respondents were male while another 50% were female.
