A NEW SURVEY conducted at the end of September 2019 shows NTV Uganda has fallen to number FOUR in Kampala viewership.

Over the years, NTV has shared position one and two with Bukedde TV, but the latest survey shows NBS TV and Spark TV are now ahead by 21 September.

The survey which asked the question: “Which television station did you watch in the last seven days?” has Bukedde TV in number one position with NBS TV following closely.

Spark TV is in third position ahead of NTV. Both NTV and Spark TV belong to Nation Media Group (NMG).

Interestingly Magic HD, a station that belongs to Uganda Broadcasting

Corporation (UBC) has grown in reaps and bounds and is fifth in the Kampala rankings.

BBS TV and UBC TV have dropped.

Also important to note is that foreign channels like Zee World, Africa Magic, Supersport continue to grow, and this speaks so much about local television content.

The survey conducted by Major Media, administered questionnaires to 5000 people from each of the five divisions of Kampala.

The sampling was stratified meaning that the area in which the research was conducted was subdivided into an equal number of respondents.

The survey interviewed 70% of respondents below the age of thirty and 30% of the respondents above the age of 30, in line with Uganda’s demographic/population structure.

50% of the respondents were male while another 50% were female.
