HIS PROPERTY in the United States might have been frozen following his indictment, but Gen Kale Kayihura still has shelter in Uganda.

The former Police Chief Gen. Kale is living a humble life at his Kashagama Farm in Lyantonde District ever since he was dropped from active service.

The once most powerful and feared general has since invested in agricultural production, setting up a banana plantation on 41 acres of land and using the rest 361 acres for other agricultural activities like goat rearing etc.

Government spokesman, Ofwono Opondo, on Tuesday visited the former IGP and gave the world a sneak peek into Kayihura’s Kashagama home.

“Travelled today to Kasagama, Lyantonde to visit Comrade Gen. Kale Kayihura at his farm. 41

acres of banana and still planting on 361 acres. He is living a simple life rearing goats and growing chilli,” Opondo wrote on his Twitter page.

However, what shocked Ugandans is the picture of the house the General owns.

The iron sheet roof-topped house, without any semblance of modern design (even for a farm house) and sitting on dusty land, is what welcomes guests to Kayihura’s now new found love – farming base.

Little has been written about Kayihura’s activities ever since his sacking and subsequent detention at Makindye Military barracks.

It is not clear what OO (as the government spokesperson is fondly known), discussed with the ex-police chief who was recently sanctioned by the USA over a cocktail of ills including; kidnap, torture and corruption.
