City lawyer David Kamukama has kicked off plans to unseat Sheema Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Elioda Tumwesigye.
Sources tell this website Counsel Kamukama is banking on the youths and women to defeat Hon Elioda when the ruling party NRM primaries take place.
General elections are expected in 2021 meaning NRM primaries are slated for next year.
Kamukama narrowly lost to Elioda last year when Sheema was elevated to municipality level and given a constituency.
Born on 18 February 1981 in Kanekye Kashozi, Sheema Municipality, counsel Kamukama’s leadership qualities were there for everyone to see.
He attended Rweigaga and Kashozi Primary Schools before joining Nganwa High School for O’ Level.
He then joined Namirembe Hillside in Kampala for A Level from where he excelled with flying colors becoming the the third best student in
He was admitted to Makerere University for a law degree. He is currently practicing under Byamugisha Gabriel and Company Advocates, one of the law firms retained by NRM to provide legal services.
His pals say counsel Kamukama is very passionate about education, economic empowerment, poverty alleviation and social welfare.
In 2018 he contested in the NRM primaries for MP Sheema Municipality. During the time Kamukama critically challenged Hon Elioda Tumwesigye’s candidacy both politically and legally.
Even after losing out in the primaries, he declined to support Elioda’s candidature.
Kamukama is currently on ground associating with voters and basing on the foundation of what he achieved from the previous race, he comes back a stronger, well prepared politician ready to claim the seat.
From his interpersonal skills, Kamukama is expected to rally other forces to claim Sheema Municipality seat from Elioda. And this, his pals say, will be aided by the youths and women who form the majority of his support.
