For the past three days, a 14 page document- allegedly from the Gender and Labour ministry- has been making the rounds on social media proposing new regulations to guide and govern musicians in Uganda.
Many have dismissed the proposed regulations as harsh and impractical. Some of the proposed regulations include; banning musician from performing at more than one venue in one night, every musician to have a license, registering all music with the ministry, not performing for more than two hours and not less than one hour among many others.
Speaking to Xclusive UG, the line ministry (Gender/Labour) public relations officer Frank Mugabi insists the document is not from his ministry.
“It’s (document) not from the ministry,” Mr. Mugabi simply said.
This latest development throws the document’s authenticity into further doubt.
