The government of Uganda is in the final stages of introducing new rules to regulate artistes in the country.
A document seen by this website provides regulations musicians and other performing artists must adhere to or risk a one year ban.
According to the document, all artists will be required to register with their line ministry.
They will also have to submit their works to the National Culture Forum and sign an ethical code.dir="auto">After all this, each artiste will be given a licence.
Interestingly each artiste will require a clearance certificate to travel abroad.
According to the document, an artiste will not be allowed to perform at more than one event on the same day.
Drugs and hygiene are also mentioned.
However it remains to be seen if the government can actually implement these seemingly stringent laws.
