POLICE ENSURED security at Namboole Stadium for the Uganda Cranes/Burkina Faso African Nations Cup qualifier last evening was as tight as it gets with officers THOROUGHLY searching fans before accessing the stadium.
Pictures of Police officers thoroughly searching women bodies have been doing the rounds on social media, thanks to Bukedde Online.
With the recent terror attacks in Brussels Belgium, and the July 2010 attacks at Kyadondo fresh in everyone’s minds, police made sure security was at its best as they searched fans including private parts.
One police officer is quoted: “We cannot take chances, we must thoroughly check everyone. Wecan’t leave any stone unturned, terrorism is real.”
However the police actions have received widespread condemnation with many terming the police actions as excessive and sexual harassment.
“We have definitely sacrificed our rights and liberties for the myth of temporary safety. Police crossed the line,” one is quoted.
