The most anticipated night of December 2014 is finally behind us and everyone will be eager to know how it went on.
Expectations were sky high as Dr. Jose Chameleone, Zari Hassan, Judith Heard and Sue O’chola, Hannington Bugingo and Co ‘battled’ for people to attend their events, all happening the same night.
As you already know, Chameleone had his One Million concert at Serena hotel, Zari Hassan hosted the All White Party at Club Guvnor, Bugingo and Fun Factory had their 5 Star Madness comedy do at Imperial Royale, Heard and O’chola had Arab Money at Cayenne while the Samsung Twitter Party was held at Panamera bar.
Xclusive UG experts, who were at all places on the night, bring you the results.
Our results are based on; social media hype throughout the night, number of attendance, fee (entrance), entertainment and expectations among others.
Samsung Twitter Party
The Samsung Twitter Party at Panamera was well attended but it remains to be known whether all or most people at Panamera were there for the party or were just about their drinking. It might have been a Twitter party but the social media talk in the night was at its worst. Actually no one seemed to care about as personalities attached to the competing events took centre stage.
Besides, there was nothing really sparkling at this event.
This event at Cayenne did not peak and pick until after midnight. For starters one of the hosts Judith Heard was at Chameleone’s One Million issue at Serena up to midnight.
In fact we eavesdropped her telling a pal that their event would kick off at midnight. It was only around 1am that the numbers grew and everyone became excited. The crowd, that was almost full house, was mainly the ‘semi-corporates’ who know how to ‘eat their dime.’
Mainly the fan was about engaging with buddies over a drink but nothing serious as far as entertainment is concerned apart from the usual stuff. With a fee of shs70,000, Arab Money was ok.
5 Star Comedy
As expected 5 Star Comedy was a hit with attendance up there. Practically Imperial Royale was full to capacity and thanks to the fact that Fun Factory is the biggest comedy outfit in the country and the media hype from Mirinda. And the entertainers/ comedian lived up
All White Party
Damn, it has never been this big before and thanks to the infamous Zari Sex Tape. Well, we guess!
At one point entry to Club Guvnor was halted as the club filled up to capacity. The whole ‘Guvnor’ street was a no go area by 2am as masses lined to enter. Others, including Major Juma Seiko, gave up and just hang out club as they chatted the night away and ogled at real bummy women mostly from downtown. As far as entertainment is concerned, singer Diamond Platinumz was on point although it must be noted that there was no space for grooving. Chameleone also made a late presence.
The White Party trended on social media all night. It was a hugely successful event.
One Million Concert
For the first time in history, Uganda’s first lady Mama Janet Kataha Museveni attended a secular music concert. It is understandable why though but you definitely have to give it to Dr. Jose Chameleone. Even State Minister of Karamoja Hon. Oundo was present. Uganda party goers are used to gracing music events late. It is with little wonder that by 9pm, many people had already termed the One Million charity event a flop but all this changed at the clocked ticked to 10pm. Guests arrived and occupied all the VIP seats. The likes of tycoon Charles Mbire, Judith Heard, Nile Breweries’ Shem Semambo and wife Grace, Prince David Wasajja, Bobi Wine and wife Barbie, King Michael, Sully Mbuga, Shafik Katumba aka Katsha, Tanzania singer AY among so many other celebrated people.
Silk Events did a commendable job as far as stage and sound are concerned. Chameleone did not disappoint musically neither did he fashion wise. He was decent although at one point one the trousers (for lack of a better word) almost fell off, but thanks to back up singer Papa Cidy he kept it in check. The attendance might not have been Chameleone’s biggest but the quality of the people certainly made for the not so big number. Being a Chameleone event, it is expected to trend and it did.
