Xclusive UG understands Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has denied Peter Sematimba licences for his new proposed radio stations.

The businessman, considered by many as the grandfather of Frequency Modulation (FM) radios in Uganda having started as a consultant at Capital FM before moving to start CBS FM for Buganda Kingdom, is not a happy man these days, and has been frequenting UCC offices in Bugolobi almost on a daily basis for the licences but in vain. It is not clear why they are rejecting his requests.

But someone

claims that when he was Chairman for Rubaga Division, he made his radio Super FM the mouth piece of the NRM  government in Central  Uganda or rather Buganda.

However when he lost the election for Kampala mayorship, he fell out with the NRM and went in bed with Mengo government. He even sacked the NRM mouthpiece Mulindwa Muwonge from his radio, thus this new development of denying him licences.

Sematimba had shipped in equipment worth millions for the new radios in western, northern and central Uganda. These days,   UCC Executive Director Godfrey Mutabaazi no longer picks his phones calls.
