1100 drunkards arrested in Kampala

The territorial Police in Kampala Metropolitan arrested 1100 covidiots for flouting Covid-19 rules to drink alcohol, smoke shisha in bars.

Police conducted an operation last night with an aim of enforcing Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures.
The aim was to raid bars that have been working in total disregard of the Ministry of Health guidelines.

A total of 1,100 suspects have been arrested and over 50 motor vehicles have been impounded.
The suspects were arrested from different bars around Kampala Metropolitan Area.

“We retaliate that bars are not yet opened.
Police will not hesitate to arrest any suspects found violating stipulated guidelines,” Deputy KMP police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire said.

All suspects arrested will be produced in courts of law on offences of doing a negligent act likely to spread an infectious disease.

Afande Owoyesigire urged members of the public to observe standard operating procedures, like wearing masks in public places and sanitising, to avoid contract Coronavirus or spreading it to others.

Uganda has in the last days recorded over 1000 Covid cases on a daily basis.
